Un petit bonjour de la cote d'azur

Bonjour,

Students spent the week-end in Cannes, Nice and St-Jean Cap Ferrat. Their favorite city is definitively Cannes and its stars. Everybody feels like a star in Cannes and it might explain why students love it. Most of their time was spent shopping and tanning on the sand beaches since we visited the city when we came for the first time last week.
So, after a Friday in Cannes, students went to visit the "baie des milliardaires"where the boats of the ridiculously rich people are. Students were amazed by their size and beauty. Everybody was dreaming that evening. Those boats are some boats, absolutely amazing.

Saturday, we spent the day in Nice. In the morning, we visited the north side of Nice (Roman part). Students saw and learned the history of Nice and the belle epoque periode. They looked at fantastic buildings such as the Negresco and the Regina hotels dating from that period but also many other magnificent buildings. We also visited 2 museums "Chagall and Matisse", followed by a visit of the arena of Cimiez and the Roman baths of Celenelum. Students learned about how roads and buidings were built at the time.
They, then had 2 free hours for lunch and to explore in their own. In the afternoon, we went to visit the Greek side of Nice, the old city and the chateau build by the English. After a busy afternoon, we offered them an ice-cream (gelato) and again students went off for a good 3-4 hours for dinner. We returned from Nice around 10:30pm. Everybody was happy by then to go home. It was a very tirying day but students enjoyed it a lot.

Sunday, we went to St Jean Cap Ferrat. After a few hours at the beach to rest from the previous day, students went to visit la maison Rothschild, one of the richest person who ever lived on the French Riviera. Her house was so pretty that when she died, it became a museum since she did not have anybody to give it to. After the visit, another hour of free time was given to the students before leaving for Antibes. The evening was spent with their respective host family.

We are leaving for Paris Thursday. I will give you some more news before our departure.
Au revoir,
Mr. Rovera
Abbey Road director in Antibes
